Compost

Over time, we have degraded our soils. Through practices like tillage and chemical inputs, we have inadvertently killed much of the life beneath our feet. Luckily, there are ways we can bring this back! One of the best ways to do this is by applying living compost.

We create small batch, living compost in the Yakima Valley. This is not compost you will find at a big box store or a plant nursery. We go to great lengths to source only the highest quality inputs which we put through a thermophilic process. The inputs combined with the thermophilic process create compost that is full of life. Using microscopy, we verify all our compost has the members of the Soil Food Web such as bacteria, fungi, nematodes and protozoa. This ensures your land receives a diverse helping of micro-organisms to regenerate the soil.

Through reintroduction of the Soil Food Web via living compost, your soil can expect to see benefits such as; a reduction in pest and disease pressure, increased resilience to extreme weather events and you'll find less need for chemical fertilizers and "icides" like pesticides or herbicides.

This compost goes a long way! As little as 5 pounds of compost can be applied to an acre of land.

We sell compost by the pound as well as in bulk. We sell directly to our community.

In any situation, it's good to get a baseline assessment of where we started so we can better track our progress and understand what challenges need addressed. This is where microscopy comes in. Soil samples are taken and checked for the presence of micro-organisms. Read more...

Meet Megan

A lifelong obsession with the world eventually lead Megan into the Regenerative Agriculture movement. For just shy of a decade, she has been pouring over every book, podcast and course related to the subject. A city girl, returning to her roots in Yakima, Washington. She was strongly influenced by her grandparents hailing from farms and ranches in Ellensburg, Naches Heights and Ephrata. It’s important for Megan to make an impact in her community, where her family has spent several generations working and calling the Eastside home.
